Saudi Arabia said it intercepted a Scud missile fired into its territory by Houthi rebels in Yemen, while a Saudi official acknowledged sending forces into northern Yemen to stop border attacks.
The Shiite fighters and forces loyal to former President Ali Abdullah Saleh launched the missile into Saudi’s southern Jazan province, the Houthi-controlled Defense Ministry said. The Saudi air force intercepted and destroyed the missile on Wednesday without causing any damage, the official Saudi Press Agency reported. In June, the Saudi military shot down another Scud missile bound for the southwestern town of Khamis Mushait.
