Vladimir Putin has cancelled a trip to Paris next week after the French government accused Russian and Syrian government forces of committing war crimes in Aleppo, amid a deepening diplomatic rift over the conflict there.
“The president has decided to cancel this visit,” Dmitry Peskov, Mr Putin’s spokesman, said on Tuesday.

There will be no deal this year between the EU and US on the Trans-Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), says French President Francois Hollande. Several French and German ministers echoed the statement, citing US unwillingness to compromise.
“The negotiations are bogged down, positions have not been respected, it’s clearly unbalanced,” Hollande said in a speech to French ambassadors.

The mayor of Calais wants changes to a deal which allows Britain to carry out immigration checks on the French side of the English Channel, after a UK vote to leave the EU.
Natacha Bouchart said Paris must act after Thursday’s referendum in which the UK voted to leave the EU.
“The British must take the consequences of their choice,” she said on Friday.
