Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards warned regional rival Saudi Arabia to stay away from Iranian waters during its military exercises in the Gulf.
“The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps believe this military exercise is a clear instance of creating tensions and undermining the stable security of the Persian Gulf,” it said in a statement published by Iranian newspapers on Thursday.

The Russian government has launched a nationwide civil defence training exercise to ensure the country is properly prepared in the event of a nuclear, chemical and biological attack from the West.
Amid growing international tensions, particulary over Russia’s conduct in Syria, the Defence Ministry-run Zvezda TV network announced last week: “Schizophrenics from America are sharpening nuclear weapons for Moscow.”
Sweden’s Baltic Sea island of Gotland is once again home to a permanent military presence, the military said Wednesday, amid speculation over the country’s ability to defend itself against a more assertive Russia, AFP reports.
The Swedish government decided in March 2015 to remilitarise the country’s biggest island, where the last barracks were decommissioned in 2005.
For the first time in modern history the two Cold War enemies will be conducting training exercises together.
Elsewhere, Vladimir Putin’s solders have been testing their ability to launch the latest ballistic missile in the east of the country.
This week India-Russia relationship moved from being ‘special’ to regular. As Russian troops landed in Pakistan for a two-week counter-terrorism joint exercise+ , the ‘degree of separation’ of the original strategic partners only increased, coming as it did in less than a week after the Uri terror strike.
