In a classic case of media bias by omission, CNN took extra care Monday to leave out a crucial part of their reports on the Milwaukee police shooting. After a black police officer fatally shot Sylville Smith Sunday, after he refused to put down his gun, riots and violence ensued in the city. Smith’s family was eager to talk to the media and his sister Sherelle had a message that should have been covered and condemned by the media. Instead, CNN decided to air her words but curtail them before they became controversial.

A divided Supreme Court agreed Wednesday to temporarily block a lower court order that had cleared the way for a transgender male high school student to use the boys’ bathroom in a Virginia public school this fall.

The ruling is a victory for the school board and a loss — for now — for Gavin Grimm, the student who won at the lower court level.

President Tayyip Erdogan told CNN in an interview on Monday that the Turkish people wanted the death penalty — abolished more than a decade ago — for those involved in last weekend’s failed military coup.

“The people on the streets have made that request,” Erdogan said in an excerpt broadcast by CNN. “The people have the opinion that these terrorists should be killed … Why should I keep them and feed them in prisons for years to come, that’s what the people say.”
