Bus drivers in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, paralysed the city for eight hours on Wednesday by blocking the streets with their vehicles to protest against the country’s economic crisis.
Hundreds of drivers demanded more pay and protection from violent crime.
Many said they needed more money to maintain their buses and complained of a scarcity of spare parts.

A judge has ruled that New York City’s buses must display a controversial ad that refers to Muslims killing Jews.
New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) had opposed the advertisement, arguing it could incite terrorism and violence.
But Judge John Koeltl rejected the argument and said the ad was protected under the US constitution, which enshrines the principle of free speech.
The ad is paid for the American Freedom Defense Initiative.

Tens of thousands of mourners converged in central Israel Tuesday for a funeral service for three kidnapped teenagers whose bodies were found a day earlier in the West Bank.
The three young men were buried side by side in the central Israeli town of Modiin. Mourners arrived in large convoys of buses arranged for the ceremony.
