A French appeals court has slashed the amount of damages due to be paid by rogue trader Jerome Kerviel to €1m ($1.12m; £860,00).

Kerviel had been ordered to pay back the €4.9bn of losses his trades amassed for his ex-employer Societe Generale.

Yesterday, the CEO of the Clinton Foundation, Donna Shalala, went on MSNBC and openly admitted to engaging in “pay-for-play” activities saying there is “no question” that Foundation donors received “courtesy appointments” during Hillary’s tenure as Secretary of State. Somehow, Shalala would like for us to believe that so long as appointees weren’t put in a position to impact policy decisions then there is no real issue. I guess we should just ignore that taxpayers are funding the salaries of those appointees and paying for their government-related travel all over the world while Hillary gets to accrue “political capital” and her Foundation gets to continue raking in the donations?

Edward Snowden has dismissed a report by the House of Representatives intelligence committee that heavily criticised his activities.

It rejected his view of himself as a whistleblower, and said he was a disgruntled employee whose actions did nothing more than help US enemies.

The report comes a day after two rights groups launched a campaign for President Obama to pardon Mr Snowden.
The White House has rejected the possibility of a presidential pardon.

The release of the report, two years in the making, also coincides with that of the film “Snowden”, directed by Oliver Stone.

In a series of tweets, Mr Snowden dismissed the report’s findings, writing: “Their report is so artlessly distorted that it would be amusing if it weren’t such a serious act of bad faith.”

A top aide to Hillary Clinton at the State Department traveled to New York to interview job candidates for a top job at the Clinton Foundation, a CNN investigation has found.

The fact that the aide, Cheryl Mills, was taking part in such a high level task for the Clinton foundation while also working as chief of staff for the secretary of state raises new questions about the blurred lines that have dogged the Clintons in recent years.
