A 19-year old man has been jailed for 10 years in Melbourne, Australia for plotting to run over and then behead a police officer.

Sevdet Ramadan Besim wanted to carry out the attack at an Anzac Day event in April.

He pleaded guilty in the Victorian Supreme Court to one count of plotting a terrorist act.

Australia is suing the local arm of Volkswagen for allegedly misleading customers by selling modified vehicles that covered up emissions fraud.

Its consumer watchdog claims Volkswagen intentionally sold more than 57,000 such vehicles over a five-year period.

A Melbourne artist who painted a provocative mural of US Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has accused Instagram of politically-motivated censorship after his account was deleted.

Renowned street artist Lushsux said he believed a mural he painted of Clinton in a very revealing stars and stripes monokini last weekend was the reason his Instagram account, which had 107,000 followers, was deactivated on Wednesday.

Australian police used pepper spray to break up clashes between rightwing nationalists and anti-racism protesters on the streets of Melbourne on Saturday as Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said eliminating racism was still a “work in progress”.

The United Patriots Front (UPF) organized a “Stop the Far Left” rally while anti-racism protesters marched under the banner “Moreland says No to Racism”, in reference to a Melbourne district.
